How scoring works

Every Drive question is keyed multiple-choice. We mark it against the published Road Code / licence-class rule — no AI marking.

Adaptive practice

After a first pass through each topic we send 70% of new questions toward your weakest topics and 30% across the rest. The live practice screen still shows a recency-weighted local tally. In parallel, each attempt writes a four-factor readiness row (score distribution, trend, volume, skill coverage — the same 40/30/20/10 mix as Passit CAA), kept behind an evidence gate until there are eight sessions, so a lucky streak cannot show "Ready to sit".

Official pass marks

• Learner and Motorcycle: 32/35 (91.4%) on the NZTA theory test.
• Heavy Vehicle (Class 2): 33/35 (94.3%), about 10 specialist and 25 general.
• Dangerous Goods: NZQA unit standard 16718 course-prep — there is no public NZTA multi-choice pass mark, so we show practice confidence instead.

A full practice exam on an unlocked Learner, Motorcycle, or Heavy Vehicle is 35 questions scored against those official marks. Dangerous Goods uses the same 35-question length as a course-prep check, not a pass/fail official paper. Passing a Drive practice exam does not replace sitting the official test or completing 16718 with a provider.

A readiness or practice exam score here is an estimate from your practice history, not a prediction of your official NZTA (or 16718) result.

Question review is for instructors and 16718 trainers. Approving a draft does not activate it.
